Graduated with laude in Chemical Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano (1989), he received the PhD in Materials Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano (1993). He heads the research group of Materials for Energy and Environment (Mat4En2) in the dept. of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano. Since 2015 he seats in the board of the PhD in Materials Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano, and is the responsible of international mobility for the study course in “Chemical Engineering”. He participates actively to the KIC EIT RawMaterials which is the world's largest innovation community in the raw materials sector, His main scientific interests have been in design and selection of sustainable materials for engineering sectors such as energy production, environmental technologies and building sector. Synthesis and characterization of innovative materials for energy devices such as fuel cells have been the core topics of his scientific production. Furthermore, in the last fifteen years, he has developed an expertise in sustainability assessment and Life Cycle Assessment of products and processes.
