I am a translational cancer researcher at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC), where I develop an independent research line within Prof. Manel Esteller’s lab focused on overcoming resistance to cancer immunotherapies. My work dissects tumor-intrinsic mechanisms and designs rational combinations (including epigenetic and epitranscriptomic modulators) to enhance CAR-T cells, bispecific antibodies, and immune checkpoint inhibitors. Methodologically, I integrate genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9 KO screens and focused drug libraries with multi-omics (epi-trans-proteo-omics), high-content functional assays, and patient-derived models to generate actionable biomarkers and therapeutic strategies. Key contributions include first-author work in Nature Communications(2021) establishing tumor-intrinsic IFNγ unresponsiveness as a resistance mechanism to redirected T-cell therapies in solid tumors, corresponding-author work in Cell Reports (2022) showing target-determined resistance routes, and collaborative findings in Science Advances (2022) on HER2–AXL cross-talk that inform antibody-based modalities and patentable approaches. I hold a PhD from IRB Barcelona and completed postdoctoral research at VHIO. At IJC, I collaborate closely with clinicians and industry, mentor trainees, and advance technology transfer. My goal is to deliver first-in-class combinations and robust biomarker platforms that broaden the benefit of immunotherapies and accelerate translation to patients.
