Fabrice Wendling is an internationally-recognized expert in neurophysiologically-plausible computational models of epilepsy. He has proposed models at multiple levels of description, from small-scale networks (detailed models) to larger scale systems (neural mass and neural field models) able to reproduce and explain epileptiform activity. He has also successfully combined computational, clinical and experimental approaches to significantly improve our understanding of the mechanisms underlying epilepsy and has invented novel diagnostic procedures, in particular based on electrical stimulation.
