I am a biochemical engineer with a degree from the National Technological Institute of Mexico and the Tehuacán Technological Institute. My thesis was on the microfiltration of oil-in-water (o/w) model emulsions using ceramic membranes.
Academic background
* PhD candidate in Food Science at the National Polytechnic Institute, National School of Biological Sciences, with the thesis: ‘Synthesis of jicama starch bilayer particles by electrospraying. Effect of the degree of hydrolysis.’
* Master of Science in Biochemical Engineering, with the thesis ‘Effect of chitosan and Trichoderma on the control of Fusarium strains isolated from corn (Zea mays L.) and tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) crops in the state of Puebla.’
I have cultivated my professional expertise in the production of biofungicides, bionematicides and bioinsecticides from filamentous fungi, and edible films from plant polymers. Development of research projects, University lecturer, human resources training and thesis supervision.
Interest areas: Biopolymers, Low value-added crops, Food engineering, Biological control, and Molecular biology among, others.
Expertise areas: molecular biology, serology, virology, enzymology, bioreactors, physicochemical analysis of water, soil and air, rheology, characterisation of materials: Scanning electron microscopy, FTIR, NMR, XRD, HPLC; bioinformatic analysis, primer design, plant health, food safety and food toxicology.
