Alexander Fingelkurts (together with his identical twin brother, Andrew Fingelkurts) was born on November 23, 1969. Along with their secondary schooling, both attended art-school, where they refined their inborn skills in drawing and painting. Their fascination for nature led them to Moscow State University, where they studied in the Faculty of Biology, Department of Human Physiology. There they engaged in extensive research into the operational architectonics of the human brain. They defended their Ph.D. dissertations with honors in November 1998 (on the same day), each focused on complementary aspects of qEEG analysis. Since 2000, they have lived and worked in Finland, where they co-direct BM-Science – Brain and Mind Technologies Research Centre. Their research focuses on studying consciousness and self-awareness using neurophenomenology, brain and mind metastability, and the operational architectonics of the brain and mind functioning.
