Eichhornia crassipes is free-floating aquatic macrophytes. For performing normal body function carbohydrate is an essential source for living organisms. Low carbohydrate intake results in muscle breakdown, ketosis, and dehydration. Daily 50-100gms of carbohydrate is recommended. In this study, the total carbohydrate content was detected in the aqueous extract by using phenol- sulphuric acid method. This was a rapid colorimetric method that determines the total carbohydrate present in the sample. The role of sulphuric acid is to convert polysaccharides, oligosaccharides, and disaccharides into monosaccharides. The result showed that the carbohydrate content was 30.50% in the sample solution. So the weed can be utilized as the source of carbohydrate.

Background: Peptic ulcer is a digestive disorder most commonly found in clinical practice. Given the many side effects of modern medicine, the initial acquisition of fewer side effects, and medication of indigenous drugs, it should be considered as a better alternative for the treatment of peptic ulcer. Objective: To assess antiulcer and antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of Barleria gibsoni (EBG) Dalz. leaves in ulcer-induced rats and in vitro antioxidants method, respectively. Materials and Methods: Ethanol EBG was screened for antiulcer activity in pylorus ligation-induced ulcer models in Wistar rats. In vitro antioxidant activity of the extracts was tested using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), nitric oxide (NO) radical scavenging activity. Total phenol and flavonoid content in the extracts were determined spectrophotometrically. Results: Oral administration of ethanol extract of leaves at doses of 250, 500 mg/kg p.o. reduced significant gastric lesions induced by pylorus ligation-induced ulcer as compared to standard omeprazole (20 mg/kg p.o.). The IC50values were found to be 150 μg/mL in leaves extract. The ethanol extracts showed good antioxidant capacity in DPPH radical scavenging assay and NO radical scavenging activity when compared to standard. The total phenolic content using Folin–Ciocalteu reagent estimated in 1 mg of leaves extracts was 368 μg and 481 μg with gallic acid equivalent and also the total flavonoid content found to be 240 and 410 μg, respectively, with quercetin equivalence. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the leaves of B. gibsoni possessed antiulcer potential and antioxidant compared to standard. This is the first ever report of antiulcer and antioxidant activities in B. gibsoni (Acanthaceae).

A promising new avenue for improving health and wellness is presented by the combination of nutraceuticals with nanotechnology. The application of nanotechnology to nutraceuticals is examined in this abstract, with particular attention on how it might transform bioactive substances' bioavailability, efficacy, and delivery methods. With nanotechnology's exact manipulation at the nanoscale, new delivery vehicles, including liposomes, nanoparticles, and nanoemulsions, can be designed. These platforms solve problems with traditional formulations by enhancing nutraceutical chemicals' solubility and stability. Furthermore, nano-based carriers make targeted delivery easier, which guarantees the body's best possible absorption and dispersion. Moreover, functionalization possibilities provided by nanotechnology enable the addition of bioresponsive components for site-specific targeting and triggered release. Furthermore, real-time monitoring of physiological parameters made possible by the integration of nanosensors allows for customized interventions and accurate dosing schedules.

The objective of this study was to investigate the ant proliferative activity of the successive solvent extract of leaves of plant of Barleria gibsoni Dalz. against MDA MB 4355 (Human breast cancer) and Hep G2 (Liver cancer cell line). 5 fluorouracil was given as reference drug. The leaves of plant were dried in shade and they were powdered and extracted with different solvents extract like petroleum ether, chloroform, acetone, ethyl acetate, ethanol. The preliminary phytochemical tests were done. Pet ether, chloroform extract of leaves showed that significant ant proliferative effects were obtained against MDA MB 4355 (Human breast cancer) by SRB assay method and ethanol extract of leaves showed moderate activity against Hep G2 (Liver cancer cell line) by MTT assay method due to presence of phytoconstituents present in the plant.
