Prof George Markou is an Associate Professor at the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Pretoria in South Africa. He received his Ph.D. degree at the National Technical University of Athens in computational mechanics. He is also registered as a charter engineer and he is a member of different engineering societies. Prof Markou's research interests include but are not limited to the development of A.I. algorithms for solving problems in structures, seismic assessment of nuclear buildings and large structures, soil-structure interaction phenomena, nonlinear dynamic analysis of composite structures with damping, fluid-structure interaction, and solving energy problems through intelligent systems.
