Dr. Geórgenes Cavalcante is a Research Scientist at the Mubadala-Arabian Center for Climate and Environmental Sciences (ACCESS) at NYU Abu Dhabi. He holds a PhD in Physical Oceanography and specializes in oceanographic instrumentation and numerical modeling. Prior to joining NYUAD, he was an Associate Professor at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences, Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL), Brazil. He held research positions at the American University of Sharjah and the United Nations University. His work focuses on understanding hydrodynamic processes in shelf and coastal oceans, estuaries, and rivers, as well as their impacts on marine and coastal ecosystems, particularly in Brazil and the Arabian Gulf.
