I received a degree in Biology from Complutense University (Madrid) in 1987, and a PhD in Biology from Polytechnic University of Madrid in 1993. In 2007, I got the position of Researcher in Plant Protection Department, phytopathogenic fungi group in INIA. I am currently the Head of the Department of Plant Protection at INIA. I am a specialist in fungal plant pathology, and biological control: development of new strategies of disease diagnosis in plants; improvement of the efficiency of biocontrol agents (BCA) in disease control and study of their environmental effect on the ecosystem; development of new alternatives to integrated pest management in cherry fruits, development of new alternatives to soil disinfection in strawberry nurseries; and selection of new resistant varieties of strawberry to pathogens. I also have a broad knowledge in biopesticides and biofertilizers. In our laboratory, we have produced several of them from the beginning (identification of the BCA). All these activities have been supported by more than 20 competitive funding projects (five of them as coordinator). At Scopus https://www2.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=6603281566), I have 40 publications in some of the most prestigious journals of Agriculture, 930 citations, and an index h=15. 62% of the publications are Q1. In 38% of the publications, I am the first or corresponding author. The average number of authors per publication is 4.3.
