José Carlos Pinto is a full professor in the Chemical Engineering Program at COPPE at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He received a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Bahia in 1985 and master’s and doctoral degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1987 and 1991, respectively. He has experience in Chemical Engineering, with a general emphasis on chemical reactors and a particular emphasis on modeling, simulation, and control of polymerization systems. He is a member of the editorial committee of the journal Polímeros: Ciência e Tecnologia, edited by ABPol. He is also a member of the Editorial Boards of the journals Macromolecular Reaction Engineering (edited by Wiley) and Processes (edited by MDPI). He is a full member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC) and of the National Academy of Engineering (ANE), and has authored more than 500 scientific manuscripts published in refereed journals.
