With the large-scale centralized penetration of renewable energy represented by wind turbine and photovoltaic power generation, the equivalent inertia and synchronous torque of traditional power grids have decreased, which is worsening the frequency dynamics and threatening the stability and reliability of power grids. Virtual synchronous generators (VSGs) are a type of grid-friendly inverter in microgrids (MGs) that mimic rotational synchronous generators (SGs) to maintain system stability with the increasing penetration of power electronic converters. In this paper, the stability analysis method of one type of VSG, synchronverter, is investigated based on internal voltage dynamics. The torque components affecting the stability mechanism of synchronizing, inertia, and damping torque is introduced, which offers a physical insight into transient stability and dynamic performance. Insufficiency in either damping or synchronizing torque would increase the unstable possibility. The characterization method of stability mechanisms can be illustrated by the phasor diagram of synchronverter internal voltage. Some cases under different disturbances which change the pattern of synchronizing and damping torque and in turn influence the internal voltage dynamics of synchronverters, are also discussed. In addition, an auxiliary correction control loop is proposed and added in the synchronverter control loop to enhance the robustness of the synchronverter against disturbances. The tunable coefficient of the correction loop is analyzed based on the internal voltage method. Simulation results verify the validity of the internal voltage stability method in synchronverters.

In this paper, a control strategy of a cell-based multi-agent system is proposed to solve the problem of inconsistency of series lithium-ion battery packs. The bidirectional Cuk converter is utilized as an equalizing circuit serving for balancing adjacent cells in a pack. A SOC-based consensus control with a time-triggered mechanism (TTM) is proposed. In order to reduce the actuator updates, the control method is ameliorated by altering TTM to an event-triggered mechanism (ETM). Adjustable balancing currents are designed in both TTM and ETM methods for the acceleration of the equalization process. The cases in dynamic environments under externally imposed charging/discharging currents by adopting TTM and ETM methods are investigated in detail. By comparison, the simulations and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) experiments with a Typhoon real-time simulator are illustrated to show that, both in standby or external charging/discharging conditions, the proposed ETM algorithms are superior to TTM’s in terms of equalization time and adaptability to the external environment.

The Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR), which is connected in series between the power grid and the load, can rapidly compensate for voltage disturbances to maintain stable voltage at the load end. To enhance the energy supply capacity of the DVR and utilize its shared circuit topology with photovoltaic (PV) inverters—which enables the dual functions of voltage compensation and PV-storage power generation—this study integrates PV and energy storage as a coordinated energy unit into the DVR, forming a PV-storage-integrated DVR system. The core innovation of this system lies in extending the voltage disturbance detection capability of the DVR to include harmonics. By incorporating a Butterworth filtering module and voltage fluctuation tracking technology, high-precision disturbance identification is achieved, thereby supporting power balance control and functional coordination. Furthermore, a multi-mode-power coordinated regulation method is proposed, enabling dynamic switching between operating modes based on PV output. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system and strategy enable smooth mode transitions. This approach not only ensures reliable voltage compensation for sensitive loads but also enhances the grid-support capability of PV systems, offering an innovative technical solution for the integration of renewable energy and power quality management.

The main problems of automotive wireless power transmission (WPT) systems include a weak misalignment tolerance are urgently required to be solved through the design of the loosely coupled transformer. In this paper, an analysis methodology based on finite element analysis (FEA) visualization is proposed, it is easy-implemented and straightforwardly explains this complex electromagnetic phenomenon. Firstly, the transformer structures with different winding and magnetic core arrangement were modeled by FEA in both 3-D and 2-D visualizations. The distribution of space coupling magnetic fields and leakage fields was analyzed by ANSYS Electronics. The key parameters that have a great influence on the coupling performance were delicately chosen. Then, the quantitative analysis of these key parameters and coupling performance against misalignment tolerance is presented. The numerical statistical result shows that the maximum coupling coefficient of the three structures that have been optimized consistently appears when the two key parameters, the inner and outer diameter, account for about 20% and 60% of the whole dimension of the transformers. A new transformer with a solenoid-shaped structure and strong misalignment tolerance was proposed based on the analysis methodology and the FEA results of the three structures. The delivered power and transfer efficiency under different misalignments of the new structure were analyzed via an FEA-aided joint method as well. The relationships among misalignment tolerance, key structural dimensions and coupling coefficients for all these structures were comprehensively investigated, which provide guidance for the subsequent multi-objective optimization strategies.

This paper proposes a practical heuristic engineering strategy for automated capacity allocation in a multifunctional parallel active power filter (PAPF) that simultaneously provides harmonic and reactive power compensation. Unlike theoretically optimal methods, our approach prioritizes real-time feasibility and ease of implementation. The key features are: (1) an event-triggered, closed-loop THD-feedback mechanism that dynamically recalculates the minimum active power required for harmonic compensation only when the load harmonic content changes, avoiding periodic computational waste; (2) a strict priority handling that guarantees grid current THD below 5% (IEEE-519 compliant) under all operating conditions, even when capacity is severely insufficient; (3) a closed-loop transition mechanism that uses measured grid current THD and remaining capacity as feedback inputs to continuously adapt power distribution. The proposed rule-based strategy does not claim theoretical optimality but provides a verifiable, ready-to-implement solution with experimental evidence. Simulation and experimental results on a three-level NPC PAPF prototype demonstrate that the strategy maintains grid current THD below 5% while keeping the apparent power within the rated capacity, achieving near-optimal reactive compensation (92–96% of the optimum) without iterative optimization. The experimental validation includes efficiency measurements, switching-loss estimation, DSP timing analysis, and robustness tests under grid disturbances. Future work will extend the concept to multi-inverter systems using multi-objective optimization and AI-based allocation.
