Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He earned his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (2019). His research focuses on cancer cell signaling, interorganelle interactions, and metastasis. During his Ph.D, he investigated EGFR trafficking and the anti-tumoral effects of D-Propranolol, leading to a first-author publication in Cancers. As a postdoc at Albany Medical College (2020-2023), he explored endosome-mitochondria interactions in breast cancer, publishing a first-author paper in Oncogene on the role of DMT1 in mitochondrial iron translocation and metastatic outgrowth, and as a co-author in iScience on the machine learning-based classification of cancer cells using interorganelle communication and spatial topology. At Mount Sinai (2023-present), he studies cancer-neuron crosstalk using iPSC-derived neurons and multi-integrated brain organoids to uncover mechanisms of proliferation, dormancy, and metastasis. His Oncogene paper on early endosome-mitochondria dynamics regulating breast cancer malignancy, and his Cancers study on D-Propranolol's impact on mutant p53, are central to his interest in interorganelle interactions and cancer metastasis, which he aims to explore further in independent research. He is a member of the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB), American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), Histochemical Society (HCS), and Metastasis Research Society (MRS)
