I am a marine biologist who graduated from the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur (Mexico); I hold a Master's degree in Marine Sciences from the Interdisciplinary Center for Marine Sciences IPN (Mexico); and I have a PhD in Sciences with a focus on ecology from the Northwest Biological Research Center, S. C. (Mexico). My scientific contributions, with the collaboration of more than 40 colleagues from Mexico and abroad throughout my professional career, the training of human capital, and various postgraduate courses, as well as activities to promote a scientific culture in society, have been developed in the following areas: ecology of coastal ecosystems; ecology of marine communities and populations; coastal zone management; protected natural areas; ecological planning; and environmental impact assessment. My main objectives are focused on generating knowledge of ecological processes in coastal ecosystems, as well as strategies for their environmental management.
