Prof. Jui-Sheng Chen

Biography

Jui-Sheng Chen is a Distinguished Professor at the Graduate Institute of Applied Geology and the Director of the Center for Advanced Model Research Development and Applications (CAMRDA) at National Central University, Taiwan. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Agricultural Engineering at National Taiwan University. He began his academic career in 1999 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering and Science at Fooyin University, where he was promoted to Associate Professor in 2003. In 2004, he joined the Graduate Institute of Applied Geology at National Central University, becoming Associate Professor in 2007 and Full Professor in 2010. From 2012 to 2015, he served as the Director of this Institute. His pioneering research has led to the development of multispecies transport analytical models, which laid the foundation for the software package MUSt. He also leads the development of the THMC software—a next-generation coupled simulator originally developed by Prof. Gour-Tsyh Yeh. Under his leadership, THMC has evolved into a comprehensive modeling platform. His research interests include geochemical reactive transport modeling, groundwater contamination and remediation, multi-species reactive chemical transport, and thermo-hydro-mechanical-chemical (THMC) coupled modeling. His recent work focuses on developing surrogate models using machine learning techniques to accelerate subsurface simulation.
