Koray Alper received the B.Sc. degree in Chemistry from Selçuk University, Turkey, in 2009, the M.Sc. degree in Chemistry from Karabük University in 2011, and the Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from Karabük University in 2020. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Process Technology at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Turkey.
His doctoral research focused on the catalytic liquefaction of waste lignocellulosic biomass in water and ethanol. His current research interests center on biomass conversion, catalytic pyrolysis, hydrothermal liquefaction, and sustainable energy production from renewable lignocellulosic feedstocks. He has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals, including Energy & Fuels, Sustainable Energy & Fuels, Applied Catalysis A, and Bioresource Technology, and contributed to several international conference proceedings.
Dr. Alper also gained international research experience as a visiting scholar at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, where he studied biomass and waste-to-energy conversion technologies under the supervision of Prof. Kunio Yoshikawa. His collaborative research has emphasized catalyst development, thermochemical processing, and biofuel upgrading.
In addition to his research, Dr. Alper has significant expertise in advanced analytical instrumentation. He is experienced in operating and interpreting results from SEM, XRF, XRD, LC-MS/MS, HPLC-UV-FLD, ion chromatography, ICP-MS, R
