Biography

Andreas Karakonstantis was born in Athens, Greece, in 1982. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Geology (2006) and an MSc in Geophysics–Seismology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) (2009). In March 2017, he successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled “3-D simulation of crust and upper mantle structure in the broader Hellenic area through Seismic Tomography”. Presently, he is a post-doctoral researcher at the NKUA. Since 2007, he has assisted in lectures of the Seismological Laboratory, second and third year of the B.Sc., in the Faculty of Geology and Geoenvironment/Department of Geophysics–Geothermics, NKUA. His research interests are mainly focused on the investigation of the Earth’s interior, volcanic seismology, and seismotectonics, using passive and active-source tomographic techniques and seismic signal analysis and interpretation. He is the author of eleven peer-reviewed journal articles. Since 2011, he has participated in several research projects co-funded by the EU and Greek agencies.
