Dr. Karthick Rasu is a dedicated academician and researcher specializing in polymer composites, with a strong focus on natural fiber-reinforced sustainable materials. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Velammal College of Engineering and Technology, Madurai, where he has served since June 2017. He previously worked at Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, contributing to a total teaching experience of nearly 10 years. Dr. Karthick Rasu earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, in 2025. His doctoral research focuses on the friction and wear behavior of alkali-treated corn husk fiber-reinforced polyester composites. He holds an M.E. in Manufacturing Engineering and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution, and a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from KLN Polytechnic College, Madurai. His research interests include mechanical characterization, tribology, and machinability of natural and hybrid fiber composites, including materials such as agave sisalana, aloe vera, banana fiber, and red mud-based composites. He has published over 14 papers in reputed journals such as Materials Testing, Materials Today Proceedings, and Journal of Natural Fibers. He has also contributed three book chapters and presented papers in multiple international conferences.
