Biography

Dr. Kun Liang is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Civil Engineering, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China. He received a PhD from The University of Hong Kong in 2023. His research focuses on bond behaviour and durability of fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcement and FRP strengthening systems for building structures, with emphasis on FRP bars, FRP–cementitious interfaces, and performance retention under alkaline exposure, carbonation-related changes in pore solution chemistry, hygrothermal conditioning, elevated-temperature exposure, and sustained loading. He combines interface testing, member-scale experiments, and modelling to develop design-oriented reduction factors and service-life assessment approaches. He also studies structural applications of FRP bars in ultra-high-performance concrete and reinforced concrete components, including building shear wall systems, to improve durability and reduce steel demand. As Guest Editor of a Special Issue in Buildings on advances in bonding, fatigue, and durability of FRP composites for building applications, he welcomes research and reviews that link material and interface mechanisms to structural performance and practical design.
