Information

Dr. Mafalda Sarraguça graduated in 2000 in Industrial Chemistry from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at the University of Coimbra. In 2004, she finished her master’s degree in Chemistry, specializing in Chemical Control in the same Faculty. In 2010, she completed her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with a specialization in Analytical Chemistry in the Faculty of Pharmacy in the University of Porto (FFUP). Presently, she is a researcher in LAQV@REQUIMTE/FFUP. She is an invited teacher at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto. She is also a collaborator of the Centro de Química Estrutural (CQE), a research unit of the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) of the University of Lisbon. Her research activity has been focused on supramolecular chemistry to improve drug properties such as solubility, palatability, and mechanical properties, using green chemistry approaches. She is proficient in several solid-state analytical methods, such as mid- and near-infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. Nowadays, her main research interest is focused on targeted design, synthesis, and characterization of Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) and Therapeutic Deep Eutectic Solvents (THEDES) for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications.
