Biography

Mária Omastová, D.Sc. is a senior research scientist and head of the Department of Composite Materials at the Polymer Institute SAS, Bratislava. Her research is focused on multiphase polymer systems, composites, and nanocomposites with special properties. In recent years she studied modification of nanoparticles such as conducting polymers, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), graphene, and inorganic nanofillers such as MXenes, and many others with the aim to prepare new types of composites with polymeric matrices for application in solar cells, sensors, and actuators. She and her group conduct surface and interface characterization of these materials using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. She has published more than 190 papers indexed by WOS and Scopus with over 5200 citations. She is developing a wide international collaboration that resulted in a number of projects and most recently in the project of 7 RP EU, Horizon 2020, Interreg, COST, and MEraNet. The international recognition of her work was reflected in great numbers of invited lectures at international conferences.
