Dr. sc. Mario Jug is a tenured full professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology. He leads the Drug Formulation 2 course in graduate studies and teaches Drug Formulation 1 and Magistral Pharmacy. He also coordinates modules 4.1 (Pharmaceutical Technological Processes), 4.2 (Therapeutic Systems), and 4.3 (Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine). His research focuses on developing new drug delivery systems for mucosal and skin application, using cyclodextrins as biocompatible supramolecular drug carriers incorporated into various polymer systems to enhance the drug's technological and biopharmaceutical properties. Additionally, he employs cyclodextrins as a greener approach to develop innovative, environmentally friendly procedures for extracting biologically active molecules from plant-based materials, achieving more selective extraction of active components while maintaining their stability during processing and storage. Recently, aligned with green chemistry principles, his research has shifted to mechanochemical synthesis for preparing cyclodextrin complexes, cocrystals, and polymer dispersions of drugs with improved functionality. In his work, he collaborates with colleagues from both domestic and international universities and industry partners. He also serves as a reviewer for several reputable journals in pharmaceutical technology and related fields indexed in WoSCC.
