Mark L Dreher Ph.D. is a nutrition science consultant and author of two recent books, Dietary Fiber in Health and Disease and Dietary Patterns and Whole Plant Foods in Aging and Disease, and two narrative reviews in Nutrients on emerging knowledge of health benefits of fruits and fruit fiber, and fruit and vegetable intake on weight loss in women and numerous papers on food and nutrition. Mark has worked as a nutrition scientist in the food and nutrition industry for 40 years, with his first positions being a researcher on medical foods at McGaw Laboratories and as a Professor at North Dakota State University working on sunflower seeds and dry edible beans, followed by various positions in the food and nutrition industry working on increasing the health of the American food supply from infant formulas, to snack foods, fruits, and vegetables, with 12 years as a volunteer member of the Almond Board of Nutrition Research Committee until 2018. Dr. Dreher’s current research focus is to support a better understanding of the health effects of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.
