Biography

Dr. Marko Šolić is a Research Associate at the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Sciences, Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Environmental Protection. He obtained his BSc (2013) and MSc (2014) degrees in Environmental Protection at the same institution, and in September 2023 he defended his doctoral dissertation entitled “Adsorption Behavior of Selected Heavy Metals on Oxidized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes.” His research focuses on adsorption processes and the application of advanced carbon materials for the removal of heavy metals from contaminated aqueous systems. He has participated in five international and six national research projects and gained practical experience in drinking water treatment technologies through work on a semi-industrial pilot plant. Dr. Šolić further expanded his research experience through two international training programs: a six-month stay at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, investigating black carbon in soils, and a six-month secondment at the Instituto de la Grasa (CSIC) in Seville, focusing on nutrient circulation dynamics in soils. He is the author or co-author of 45 scientific publications, including 13 papers in leading international journals. He is a member of the Serbian Chemical Society and the Educational Center for Environmental Protection.
