Officer-in-Charge for FAO Sub-regional Office for the GCC States and Yemen and Senior Livestock Development Officer, based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He leads projects on transforming livestock sector through the SDGs, characterization and conservation of animal genetic resources, eradication of animal diseases and zoonoses, and improving biosecurity in food and agriculture to prevent epidemics. He has over 29 years of experience in animal production and health (research, development, policies, and practices) in Africa, Europe, Middle East and South Asia. He earned his PhD in Animal Science (especially Genetics and Breeding) from Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Addis Ababa University. Formerly, he worked for the International Livestock Centre for Africa - ILCA, the predecessor of the International Livestock Research Institute - ILRI as well as for the International Centre for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA). Dr Tibbo has authored or co-authored over 140 publications and received a number of awards for his contributions and leadership in scientific research and development.
