Born in Grotte di Castro (Italy) the 14th May 1961. Laurea in Physics 27th February 1986 cum laude at University of Perugia. INFN Fellow from 1990 to 1992, INFN permanent staff researcher since 1st July 1992. From 1987 to 1995 involved in cosmic ray physics experiments using balloons (MASS, MASS2, TS93) in collaboration with New Mexico State University, Las Cruces (NM – USA). In the same period he worked on the COSIDE experiment aiming at the construction of a time-of-flight spectrometer with silicon detectors. The spectrometer reached an intrinsic TOF resolution of 85 ps. In year 1995 he joined the AMS collaboration aiming at the construction of a space spectrometer for cosmic rays studies. In this experiment he was responsible for the construction of the power supply system of the tracker detector and for the control electronics of the cooling system and also for the related radiation and qualification tests. In 2009 he joined the CMS experiment. In this experiment he was supervisor for the pixel detector module testing and quality control for the Italian consortium. Presently he is working on the power distribution system of the CMS Silicon tracker. He is also working on the development of Hydrogenated amorphous Silicon detectors in 3D geometry for MIP, X-rays and ion detection and also on dosimetry and beam flux detectors using the same material deposited on flexible substrates. He is co-author in more than 1000 articles (h-index 97 according to Scopus).
