Prof. Mohammed Ali is now an Associate Professor at Desert Research Center. He obtained his doctorate (PhD) in Crop Genetics and Breeding, in the field of Crop Functional Genomics and Secondary Metabolism (National Key Laboratory of Crop Genetic Improvement) from Huazhong Agriculture University in 2018. His research areas of interest are plant primary and secondary metabolic pathways and the role of both metabolites in different plants. The usage of different plant metabolite databases and new techniques such as next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) as a method to identify and discover the genes involved in the biosynthesis of various primary and secondary metabolite pathways in non-model and model plants with unknown genomic sequences.
