Dr. Mpho Mafata

Mpho Mafata currently works as a post-doctoral research fellow at the South African Grape and Wine Research Institute (SAGWRI) as well as the Stellenbosch University School for Data Science and Computational Thinking. She completed her undergraduate degree and honours in Chemistry at the University of Cape town (2013), followed by a masters in Wine Biotechnology at Stellenbosch university (2017). She completed her doctoral dissertation at the same university in 2021. Her current research is in the applications of Data Science in the fields: Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology, Sensory evaluation, and Oenology. Her current work is on transdisciplinary approaches for chemometric and sensometric data fusion. She is a junior associate of the National Institute for Theoretical and Computational Sciences (NITheCS), South Africa.
