I am currently an Assistant Professor working in the Laboratory for Plant Cell and Tissue Culture (LPCTC), Institute of Biology, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. I have more than 10 years' experience in teaching practical courses for Biology students in the fields of Plant Biochemistry and Physiology, Plant Molecular Biology, Plant Tissue Culture and Plant Biotechnology. The main subjects of my research experience are related to development of new protocols for plant micropropagation, phytochemical analysis and biological activity of plant extracts, application of different biotechnological methods for enhancement of plant bioactive compounds, as well plant genetic transformation and establishment of transgenic cultures. Educational and research experience has also allowed me to develop management skills, co-ordinate students in regular laboratory experiments, maintain lab records, and facilitate discussion with project/principal investigators for accelerating scientific progress. The current research interest is focused on three topics: (I) identification of biologically active compounds from medicinal and aromatic plant species, (II) development of bioreactor engineering technology for mass production of bioactive compounds from plant in vitro cultures, and (III) potential application of new bioactive compounds in the phytopharmaceutical industry.
