Dr. Pere Serra Ruiz, graduated in Geography in 1995, received a Master degree in Remote Sensing applications from the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia in 1997 and the Ph.D. degree in land-use and land-cover changes with remote sensing at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2002. He is currently a Lecturer at the Geography Department from this university teaching digital cartography, remote sensing and GIS. His research interests have included new classification strategies, spatial accuracies, postclassification comparisons, combination raster-vector results and landscape dynamics. He belongs to the “Research Group of Methods and Applications in Remote Sensing and GIS” (GRUMETS), the objective to which is to propose new algorithms and methodologies in GIS and remote sensing for improving spatial information. He belongs to the Editorial Board of “Sustainability”.
