I am currently engaged in research on the evolutionary biology of Drosophila, with a particular emphasis on the evolutionary mechanisms underlying olfaction. My work focuses on Drosophila suzukii, an agriculturally important pest species that uniquely prefers to oviposit on ripe fruits, in contrast to most Drosophilidae, including the model organism D. melanogaster, which typically utilizes fermented fruits. To address these questions, I employ a combination of genetic, molecular, and neurophysiological approaches, including RNAi, CRISPR-based genome editing, and single-sensillum electrophysiological recordings.
