My scientific career includes several lines of research in which I have approached environmental conservation from different perspectives: heavy metals in sediments and organisms, effects of tributyltin (TBT) in coastal waters, the use of molecular tools to investigate ecological processes (dispersal capacity, population structure, phylogeography, invasive species sources, detection of cryptic species). More recently, I initiated a line of work focused on the effects of global change on coastal ecosystems, with special attention to marine algae and kelp forests.
