Biography

I am a medicinal chemist currently working as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the University of Palermo (Italy). I earned my PhD in Molecular and Biomolecular Sciences from the University of Palermo in 2024, with a thesis focused on the synthesis and biological evaluation of triazole and thiazole systems for antiviral applications. My research experience includes international collaborations at the Rega Institute for Medical Research (KU Leuven) and at the University Magna Graecia of Catanzaro, where I deepened my expertise in antiviral drug discovery and molecular modelling, respectively. My scientific contributions focus on medicinal and computational chemistry, with a primary focus on the design of small molecules targeting viral proteins, as well as additional work in cystic fibrosis research and oncology-related projects. I have co-authored several papers in high-impact journals and I have presented my work at numerous international conferences. In 2025, I was honored with the Paul Ehrlich MedChem Euro-PhD Award, and I currently serve as a reviewer for journals including European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, Molecules, and Viruses.
