I am a Master’s student in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies at the Univeristy of Florence with a focused interest in retinal diseases and their therapeutic management. Over the past few years, I have been involved in research projects addressing pathological mechanisms affecting the retina, with particular emphasis on the development and application of in vitro retinal models. My experience includes investigating innovative strategies such as the use of biomaterials and the modulation of molecular pathways relevant to neurodegenerative conditions. My current work centers on exploring the role of thyroid hormone signaling in diabetic retinopathy. In parallel, I am also contributing to a scientific review exploring the emerging connection between the gut microbiota and retinal health. I am committed to advancing translational research aimed at identifying effective approaches to preserve and restore visual function.
