Head of Dept. Natural Sciences, New Bulgarian University, Sofia, Bulgaria, Delegate of Bulgaria in the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS), Deft, NL. Member of the Board of Bulgarian Society for Microbiology (BgSM) Galina Satchanska was graduated in Biochemistry and Microbiology and post-graduated in Clinical Biochemistry from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Sofia, Bulgaria. She also completed Minor: “Pedagogy in Biology and Chemistry”. At 1995 she was appointed “Biologist” in the Institute of Molecular Biology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. At 2007 at the same research institute jointly with the Helmholz Forschungszentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, she defended her PhD thesis: ”Bioindicatory and biotransformation activity of microorganisms inhabiting xenobiotic-contaminated soils and waters”. Numerous Fellowships in Germany and France. 2008-ongoing - New Bulgarian University (NBU), Sofia, Member of: 2 Faculty Councils, Head of BioLab-NBU, Quality Control Committee and Accreditation-NBU, Working Group by the Strategic Development Committee-NBU, Head of Microbiologists Club-NBU, Academic Council Member, Expert of Bulgarian National Agency for Universities’ Accreditation; Projects: NATO, UNESCO, Bundes Minsterium fuer Bildung und Forschung (Germany), SMWK - Dresden (Germany). She published 5 monographs (1 in English), 2 Chapter books (IntechOpen), and over 30 original articles in Scopus and WoS referred journals. Editorial Board member of 3 Q-Journals.
