Takele Feyera is an Assistant Professor working on nutrition and physiology of sows and suckling piglets at the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at Aarhus University, Denmark. He obtained both his MSc and PhD from Aarhus University and has authored over 39 peer-reviewed publications, with notable international collaboration. His research focuses on enhancing sow and piglet performance through targeted nutritional strategies, with special focus during transition nutrition. He has investigated the effects of dietary fiber, precision feeding, meal size, meal frequency, palmitoleic acids, and calcium and vitamin D3 on various aspects of mammary and uterus metabolism, farrowing dynamics, piglet survival, colostrum and milk production, and piglet survival. Combining both fundamental and applied approaches, his work has demonstrated the positive impact of transition feeding on the productivity of hyperprolific modern sows.
