Talal Halabi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Université Laval. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Polytechnique Montréal in 2018. He currently leads several high-impact research projects in cybersecurity applied to critical systems, addressing emerging security challenges in the Internet of Things (IoT) and cyber-physical systems. His work leverages artificial intelligence approaches to detect, predict, and counter large-scale threats while ensuring the resilience and reliability of connected infrastructures. Professor Halabi’s projects, funded by provincial and federal agencies, stand out for their scientific and societal impact, particularly through the development of autonomous cyber-defense frameworks and advanced threat detection tools. His research directly contributes to the protection of industrial computer networks, critical infrastructures, and smart environments, with significant implications for the transportation, energy, and healthcare sectors. His results are regularly published in top-tier conferences and journals, advancing the state of the art in cybersecurity. Professor Halabi also maintains strong research collaborations with several Canadian universities, including McGill University, Queen’s University, the University of Calgary, and Polytechnique Montréal, fostering interdisciplinary networks and the development of concrete solutions to cybersecurity threats on a national scale.
