Thiago Saksanian Hallak is a Doctor in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, specializing in offshore renewable energy and hydrodynamic theory. He earned his PhD in 2025 with a thesis titled "Hydrodynamic Modelling of Hybrid Floating Wind Platforms," passed with distinction. He developed a mathematical model for floating multi-body systems with complex constraints, created numerical simulation tools, and validated his models with experimental data. His research has led to over 50 publications, including 6 first-author journal articles, and he won the Best Poster Award at INORE 2023. He studied and worked at EP-USP (Brazil), Politecnico di Torino (Italy), IST-ULisboa (Portugal), WUT (China), and MU (Thailand). He received the SOBENA Award 2016 as top student at USP and held scholarships from AEP, CAPES, and FCT. He worked at the Numerical Offshore Tank (Brazil) and CENTEC (Portugal), and taught at IST. Before university, he won 17 medals in scientific olympiads, including golds in Brazilian Olympiads on Math, Astronomy, and Physics, and he represented Brazil twice at the International Olympiads on Astronomy and Astrophysics, earning bronze (Iran, 2009) and silver (China, 2010). He reviews for journals like Ocean Engineering, Applied Energy, Marine Systems & Ocean Technology, is a member of WECANet and INORE, and supervises MSc students and undergrad researchers. Currently, he is a PhD Researcher at Mahidol University on green hydrogen offshore within EU project WINDHY.
