Dr Tiansheng Yang is a Lecturer/ Assistant Professor at the University of South Wales, with a research focus on sustainable mobility, Urban Air Mobility (UAM), and innovation ecosystems. His academic journey began with a PhD from Cardiff University, during which he examined product-service systems in emerging electric vehicle-sharing markets. Over recent years, his work has increasingly focused on the strategic, behavioural, and policy dimensions of low-altitude economies and sustainable air mobility systems.
He has led several externally funded projects that explore stakeholder perceptions, consumer adoption, and system design of UAM and future mobility solutions, particularly in the Chinese and UK contexts. He is currently the Principal Investigator on multi-site studies incorporating advanced survey methods, sustainability mapping, and innovation diffusion modelling. His recent publications align with core themes in sustainability, sustainable transitions, and mobility-as-a-service.
Dr Yang is actively involved in postgraduate education, supervising MRes and Ph.D students, and leading modules for MBA and Health Management courses. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and contributes to research evaluation, international exchanges, and editorial collaborations. His ongoing research aims to bridge academic insight and real-world innovation in next-generation mobility systems.
