Monitoring of critical frequency variation in the ionospheric F2 layer (foF2) has lately received considerable attention for the frequency selection in skywave communication. Currently, both the deep learning and machine learning model have made a striking accomplishment in comprehending the ionosphere. In this letter, we utilize an Informer architecture to predict the foF2 parameter under the two scenarios in terms of the quiet space weather and storm events. The Informer method applied the past and present foF2 samples to capture time sequence processing characteristics, trained and tested for 2017-2018 years’ measurement samples at Beijing, China (40.3°N, 116.2°E). It is evident from the results that the Informer performed better than International Reference Ionosphere 2016, Elman network, long short-term memory, and bidirectional long short-term memory models. The Informer models extensively captured the correlation within the foF2 sequence features and better predicted it in storm events.

Prediction of ionospheric parameters, such as ionospheric F2 layer critical frequency (foF2) at low latitude regions is of significant interest in understanding ionospheric variation effects on high-frequency communication and global navigation satellite system. Currently, deep learning algorithms have made a striking accomplishment in capturing ionospheric variability. In this paper, we use the state-of-the-art hybrid neural network combined with a quantile mechanism to predict foF2 parameter variations under low and high solar activity years (solar cycle-24) and space weather events. The hybrid neural network is composed of a convolutional neural network (CNN) and bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM), in which CNN and BiLSTM networks extracted spatial and temporal features of ionospheric variation, respectively. The proposed method was trained and tested on 5 years (2009–2014) of ionospheric foF2 observation data from Advanced Digital Ionosonde located in Brisbane, Australia (27°53′S, 152°92′E). It is evident from the results that the proposed model performs better than International Reference Ionosphere 2016 (IRI-2016), long short-term memory (LSTM), and BiLSTM ionospheric prediction models. The proposed model extensively captured the variation in ionospheric foF2 feature, and better predicted it under two significant space weather events (29 September 2011 and 22 July 2012).

China is promoting the construction of an integrated positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) systems with the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) as its core. To expand the positioning coverage area and improve the positioning performance by taking advantage of device-to-device (D2D) and self-organizing network (SON) technology, a BDS/SON integrated positioning system is proposed for the fifth-generation (5G) networking environment. This system relies on a combination of time-of-arrival (TOA) and BeiDou pseudo-range measurements to effectively supplement BeiDou signal blind spots, expand the positioning coverage area, and realize higher precision in continuous navigation and positioning. By establishing the system state model, and addressing the single-system positioning divergence and insufficient accuracy, a robust adaptive fading filtering (RAF) algorithm based on the prediction residual is proposed to suppress gross errors and filtering divergence in order to improve the stability and accuracy of the positioning results. Subsequently, a federated Kalman filtering (FKF) algorithm operating in fusion-feedback mode is developed to centrally process the positioning information of the combined system. Considering that the prediction error can reflect the magnitude of the model error, an adaptive information distribution coefficient is introduced to further improve the filtering performance. Actual measurement and significance test results show that by integrating BDS and SON positioning data, the proposed algorithm realizes robust, reliable, and continuous high precision location services with anti-interference capabilities and good universality. It is applicable in scenarios involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), autonomous driving, military, public safety and other contexts and can even realize indoor positioning and other regional positioning tasks.

Utilizing fountain codes to control the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) is a classic scheme in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) wireless communication systems. However, because the robust soliton distribution (RSD) produces large-degree values, the decoding performance is severely reduced. In this paper, we design statistical degree distribution (SD) under a scenario that utilizes fountain codes to control the PAPR. The probability of the PAPR produced is combined with RSD to design PRSD, which enhances the smaller degree value produced. Subsequently, a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to search the optimal degree value between the binary exponential distribution (BED) and PRSD distribution according to the minimum average degree principle. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms other relevant degree distributions in the same controlled PAPR threshold, and the average degree value and decoding efficiency are remarkably improved.

With the increasing application of Internet of Things (IoT), the localization of IoT devices has been widely used. The distributed cooperative localization is expected to be applied in a large-scale dynamic network, such as IoT. It is located through the exchange of information among multiple nodes. For a large amount of battery-based users, the high-computational complexity and heavy communication overhead will lead to huge energy consumption. In this paper, we propose a link selection algorithm based on the evolutionary overlapping coalitional (EOC) game to mitigate the energy consumption for distributed cooperative localization in the dynamic network. The equivalent Fisher information matrix (EFIM) and the Cramér–Rao lower bound (CRLB) are employed to keep location accuracy. Numerical results verify that the distributed cooperative localization based on the EOC game achieves lower energy consumption while keeping localization accuracy in the dynamic networks.

Utilizing the measured distance and information exchanged between two different nodes to cooperatively locate in a mobile network has become a solution to replace global navigation satellite system (GNSS) positioning. However, the localization accuracy of the belief propagation-based cooperative localization scheme is substantially influenced by the number of neighbors. In this paper, we propose a cooperative localization scheme combined with a trajectory tracking algorithm. With an insufficient number of neighbors, the trajectory tracking algorithm is utilized to participate in the positioning process of agents. Concretely, we carry out sensor information fusion and utilize quantum-behaved, particle-swarm-optimized, bidirectional long short-term memory (QPSO–BiLSTM) as a trajectory tracking strategy, to precisely predict the positions of agents. It is evident from simulations and results that the proposed cooperative localization scheme performs better than the belief propagation (BP)-based cooperative localization scheme in position error.
