Biography
MD, specialist in Medical Microbiology and Parasitology and Epidemiology. Master of Science (MSc) in Clinical Pathophysiology, PhD in Medical Microbiology and Parasitology (Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka, Croatia). Head of the Department of Social Medicine and Epidemiology (Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka), Head of the Laboratory for Molecular Diagnostics of the Department of Clinical Microbiology of the Teaching Institute of Public Health of Primorsko-Goranska County, Rijeka, Croatia. Participated as a researcher in several national and international research and professional projects: project manager/principal researcher in three, and collaborating researcher in five national research projects; the pilot leader in two, and collaborating researcher in six international research and professional projects. Participated in multiple national and international congresses related to Clinical Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Public Health. Current research activity are the organizational challenges of health and social care for the older population, and the application of new techniques in molecular diagnostics of infectious diseases, especially sexually transmitted diseases. The author/coauthor in more than 50 publications in peer reviewed international medical journals (1500 citations, h-index: 18). Mentor in five doctoral theses (PhD) and in one Master of Science thesis (MSc).
