Dr. William Picking

William D. Picking is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Veterinary Pathobiology and Bond Life Science Center at the University of Missouri, MO, USA. His research explores the virulence mechanisms of Shigella with a specific focus on structure–function relationships within the organism's type III secretion system. This work has the ultimate goal of developing new strategies for preventing infections by this bacterial pathogen and other bacteria that use the type III secretion system as part of their virulence mechanisms.
