In this paper, a novel data-driven fault diagnosis method by combining deep canonical variate analysis and Fisher discriminant analysis (DCVA-FDA) is proposed for complex industrial processes. Inspired by the recently developed deep canonical correlation analysis, a new nonlinear canonical variate analysis called deep canonical variate analysis (DCVA) is first developed by incorporating deep neural networks into canonical variate analysis. Based on DCVA, a residual generator is designed for the fault diagnosis process. Fisher discriminant analysis is applied in the feature space spanned by residual vectors. Then, a Bayesian inference classifier is performed in the reduced dimensional space of FDA to label the class of process data. A continuous stirred-tank reactor and an industrial benchmark of the Tennessee Eastman process are carried out to test the performance of DCVA-FDA fault diagnosis. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed DCVA-FDA fault diagnosis is able to significantly improve the fault diagnosis performance when compared to other methods also examined in this study.

Bearings are the key and important components of rotating machinery. Effective bearing fault diagnosis can ensure operation safety and reduce maintenance costs. This paper aims to develop a novel bearing fault diagnosis method via an improved multi-scale convolutional neural network (IMSCNN). In traditional convolutional neural network (CNN), a fixed convolutional kernel is often employed in the convolutional layer. Thus, informative features can not be fully extracted for fault diagnosis. In the proposed IMSCNN, a 1D dimensional convolutional layer is used to mitigate the effect of noise contained in vibration signals. Then, four dilated convolutional kernels with different dilation rates are integrated to extract multi-scale features through the inception structure. Experimental results from the popular CWRU and PU datasets show the superiority of the proposed method by comparison with other related methods.

In this article, a novel time-constrained global and local nonlinear analytic stationary subspace analysis (Tc-GLNASSA) is proposed to enhance blast furnace ironmaking process (BFIP) monitoring. Although the existing analytic stationary subspace analysis method has been available for deriving process consistent relationships. However, the presence of complex nonlinear, periodic nonstationary, and time-varying smelting conditions renders the satisfactory estimation of stationary projections unattainable. To this end, we leverage multiple kernel functions and manifold learning methods to establish a global and local nonlinear structure with time constraints, which will identify the unique nonlinearities excited by periodic nonstationarity. Meanwhile, a singular value decomposition-based modeling efficiency promotion strategy is constructed to reduce the proposed Tc-GLNASSA's computational complexity significantly. The orthogonality of model update scheme is analyzed theoretically, and an overall BFIP monitoring framework is given. Ultimately, practical BFIP case studies fully demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposal.

Objective. Aplastic anemia (AA) is an uncommon disease, characterized by pancytopenia and hypocellular bone marrow, but it is common in the blood system. The medication rules of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the treatment of AA are not clear, for which it is worth exploring the medication rules by data mining methods. Methods. This study used SPSS Modeler 18.0 and SPSS statistics to analyze the cases of AA from Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine (ZJHCM) from March 1, 2019, to March 1, 2022. Data mining methods, including frequency analysis, cluster analysis, and association rule learning, were performed in order to explore the medication rules for AA. Results. (1) A total of 859 prescriptions, which met the inclusion criteria, consisted of 255 herbs. In descending order of the frequency of herbal medicine, we have Danggui, Huangqi, Shudihuang, Fuling, Gancao, Shanyao, Shanzhuyu, Baizhu, Dangshen, and Xianhecao. (2) Frequency analysis of herb properties: the Four Qi of 255 kinds of TCMs are mainly warm and neutral medicines. The Five Flavors are mainly sweet medicines, followed by bitter medicines. The main meridians are the liver, spleen, and kidney. (3) Clustering of medications: TCMs with the top 20 frequencies are classified into 9 groups by cluster analysis. (4) Association rule analysis of high-frequency herbs: using the Apriori algorithm, the results showed that there were 3 herb pairs with support of over 0.3 and 12 herb pairs with confidence above 0.85. Conclusion. The basic pathogenesis of AA (Sui Lao) is spleen and kidney essence deficiency, Qi deficiency, and blood stasis. The main herbs have warm and neutral properties, sweet tastes, and liver, spleen, and kidney meridian tropisms, whose purpose is to tonify the kidney and invigorate the spleen, tonify Qi, and promote blood circulation.

Currently, the offshore wind turbine has become a hot research area in the wind energy industry. Among different offshore wind turbines, floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) can harvest abundant wind energy in deepwater areas. However, the harsh working environment will dramatically increase the maintenance cost and downtime of FOWTs. Wind turbine fault diagnosis is being regarded as an indispensable system for maintenance issues. Owing to the complexity of FOWT, it imposes an enormous challenge for effective fault diagnosis. This paper develops a novel FOWT fault diagnosis method based on a stacked denoising autoencoder (SDAE). First, a sliding window technique is adopted for time-series data to preserve temporal information. Then, SDAE is employed to extract the features from high-dimensional data. Based on the extracted features from SDAE, a classifier using multilayer perceptrons (MLP) is developed to determine the health status of the FOWT. To verify the performance of the proposed method, a FOWT simulation benchmark based on the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) FAST simulator is employed. Results show the superior performance of the proposed method by comparison with other relevant methods.
