Education
Yi Qiu is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Oil and Gas Engineering at Southwest Petroleum University (SWPU), under the supervision of Prof. Tianshou Ma. He earned his Master’s degree in Oil and Gas Well Engineering from SWPU in 2022 and his Bachelor’s degree in Marine Oil and Gas Engineering from Chongqing University of Science and Technology in 2019.
Research Interests & Academic Experience
His research focuses on wellbore stability, anisotropic rock mechanics, THMC (Thermal-Hydraulic-Mechanical-Chemical) coupling, fractured shale formations, drilling fluid invasion, and numerical simulation in petroleum engineering. He has conducted systematic theoretical, experimental, and numerical studies on wellbore instability mechanisms in anisotropic and fractured reservoirs, with a series of high-quality academic outputs.
Representative Publications
He has published over 10 peer-reviewed papers in leading journals including Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences, and Geoenergy Science and Engineering. His work centers on anisotropic porothermoelasticity, dual-medium coupled models, and inclined wellbore stability in unconventional formations. He also serves as a reviewer for several geomechanics and petroleum engineering journals.
Honors & Awards
He has received numerous prestigious honors, including the 2024 Youth Talent Support Program (Ph.D. Special Track) from the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering
