Dr Yusuf Abubakar Sha’aban is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Hafr Al Batin, Saudi Arabia. He was a lecturer at the Department of Electrical Engineering and a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Computer Engineering of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He was a Teaching/Research fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2017. Yusuf also worked as a tutor at the Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, and a Post PhD Intern at the University of Manchester. He received a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, majoring in Control Engineering, from the University of Manchester in 2015. He also received an M.Sc. degree in control systems from Imperial College, London, U.K., and a B.Eng. degree in electrical engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. His research interest is in optimization and optimal control schemes such as model predictive control, intelligent control, machine learning, and nature-inspired algorithms. Yusuf has worked on the application of these techniques in various applications, including process and power systems, smart grids, renewable energy systems, tracking systems, and UAVs for agriculture. Yusuf has worked on several research projects related to his area of research.
