My research focuses on citrus diseases, particularly citrus Huanglongbing and citrus canker disease. The main interests include the pathogenic mechanisms of citrus Huanglongbing-associated bacteria, host–pathogen interactions, effector protein functions, pathogen functional genomics, pathogen enrichment and cultivation, pathogen evolution and disease epidemiology, disease detection technologies, and innovative strategies for Huanglongbing control. I also works on works on citrus canker, including pathogen genomics, disease detection and epidemiology, biocontrol microorganisms, and the development of green and integrated disease management technologies.
