Dr. Alexandre Chagnes is a professor at the National School
of Geology of the Université de Lorraine. He is also the scientific director of
Labex Ressources21 of Université de Lorraine (since 2019), the director of
Industrial Partnerships, Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Géologie, Université de
Lorraine (since 2018), and the director of the French Network on
Hydrometallurgical processes Promethee (since 2016). He obtained his B.S. in
chemistry from the University of Tours in 1997, his M.S. in catalysis, energy,
and clean-up processes from the University of Poitiers in 1999, and his Ph.D.
in physical chemistry from the University of Tours in 2002. From 2002 to 2003,
he was a researcher in the Centre de Recherche en Electrochimie et
Electrocatalyse, University of Sherbrooke. From 2003 to 2004, he was an
assistant professor at the Laboratoire de Physicochimie des Interfaces et des
Milieux Réactionnels, University of Tours. From 2004 to 2005, he was a
researcher in the Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique, Saclay. From 2005 to 2016,
he was an associate professor at Chimie ParisTech, Ecole Nationale Supérieure
de Chimie de Paris. Since 2016, he has been a professor at the Université de
Lorraine. His research interests mainly include hydrometallurgy, recycling,
solution chemistry, nuclear chemistry, separation science, thermodynamics,
electrochemistry, and lithium batteries.
