Asst. Prof. Dr. Almukhtar holds a Doctorate in Engineering, awarded in 2010 under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Horst Biermann at the Institute of Materials Engineering, TU Bergakademie Freiberg. His doctoral research focused on fracture mechanics and structural integrity in welded structures.
Following his PhD, he served as a research assistant in the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology at TU Bergakademie Freiberg from July to December 2010, again under Prof. Biermann's supervision. His work during this time centered on biaxial simulation.
From 2011 to 2015, Dr. Almukhtar pursued postdoctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Broder Merkel in the Faculty of Geosciences, Geoengineering, and Mining at TU Bergakademie Freiberg. His research was focused on rock mechanics and fracture mechanics with applications in geothermal systems.
In the interim, he has also served as an assistant professor at various universities in different countries, contributing to a wide range of engineering disciplines.
Since 2020, he has been working as a senior research assistant and postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Structural Mechanics (ISM), under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Carsten Könke, at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
Dr. Almukhtar’s research is primarily focused on fracture mechanics, with applications spanning materials, biological tissues (bones), welds, and rock fractures. He has contributed to several high-impact research projects an
