Antonio Ken IANNILLO is a research scientist at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) at the University of Luxembourg, and a member of the SEDAN (Services and Data Management) group. His research focuses on software dependability and security, with an emphasis on software verification and assessment for emerging targets including ARM TrustZone for Cortex-M, Ethereum smart contracts, and the Robot Operating System (ROS). His latest research sits at the intersection of software engineering, cybersecurity, dependability, and verification, with a focus on how these areas evolve as AI becomes a first-class element of modern software. His work spans both AI for software engineering (secure coding support, vulnerability detection, intelligent testing and fuzzing, runtime monitoring, empirical studies of software quality) and software engineering for AI (verification of learning-enabled components, safety cases, adversarial robustness).
He received his PhD in Information Technologies and Electrical Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II in 2018. During his doctoral studies, he was a visiting scholar at Northeastern University, Boston.
Notable works include ChaosLLM (ISSRE 2025), ConFuzzius (EuroS&P 2021), The Eye of Horus (FC 2021), and Chizpurfle (ISSRE 2017). He has received Best Paper Awards at INTSYS 2025, ISSRE 2017, and NetSoft 2015.
He serves on the Program Committees of DSN, ISSRE, IFIP SEC, and SDML.
