Biography

Dr Ali M. Sefidan is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Mechanical Engineering at Aalto University, Finland. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, with a research focus on computational fluid dynamics (CFD), multiphase flow, and fluid–particle systems. His work combines advanced numerical modelling with experimental validation to study complex transport phenomena in reactors and energy-related processes. Dr Sefidan’s research interests include bed reactors, spray and bubble column systems, adsorption and absorption processes, and low-carbon energy technologies such as carbon capture and renewable fuel production. During his doctoral and postdoctoral research, he has developed multiphysics and CFD-based models for industrial processes, including spray drying, packed-bed reactors, and gas–liquid–solid systems, with applications spanning chemical engineering, energy systems, and process optimisation. He has published in leading international journals and actively contributes to the scientific community through peer review for journals published by Elsevier, Springer Nature, and MDPI. Dr Sefidan also serves as Guest Editor for a Special Issue of Processes focused on advances in bed reactor and fluid dynamics simulation.
