Andrej Novak (PhD in Applied Mathematics; MD) is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, and a Research Associate at the University of Vienna. He completed undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral studies in Applied Mathematics (PhD) and, in parallel, completed medical studies (MD). His group studies PDE-based modeling and optimization and interpretable machine learning for imaging and tabular biomedical data. Clinically, he collaborates with the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, University Hospital Dubrava, on decision-support tools for ECG/EGM analysis and electrophysiology. He has led and contributed to interdisciplinary projects and serves on the management committee of several European initiatives. His ongoing work emphasizes calibrated prediction, drift monitoring, and decision-curve analysis to ensure models improve real-world clinical decisions.
